How do you explain your company’s sustainability efforts in 30 seconds to bypassing guests at a busy trade fair? And how do you make sure that people actually remember you and your company? Every single day we help companies with this challenge. A recent example took place in Kiel, Germany where Sprout pencils served as a unique icebreaker.
This year, BAADER, a leading manufacturer of food processing machinery, decided to try something different.
At the German National Day festivities, they had a 40 square meters exhibition stand to showcase their brand and to draw attention to the way they work with sustainability.
Around 1200 people stopped by to learn more about BAADERs commitment to their “Zero Waste Management” and “BAADER uses all” campaigns. It was a busy day.
BAADER wanted to explain how they aim to use all parts of the fish or poultry that their machines process—and how they introduce untapped resources into the value chain with the right “processing methods.
So, they handed out plantable Sprout pencils to get people’s attention.
An Ideal Icebreaker
The pencils simply served as an ideal icebreaker to start conversations with the guests about resource efficiency and sustainability—without going into machine and food processing territory.
People were curious as they had never seen a plantable pencil. Once they understood the link between the plantable pencil and the efforts BAADER is making, it all made sense.
It was such a success that BAADER now considers introducing Sprout pencils at future trade fairs.
With over 1,200 employees, 100 years of company history and 80 locations throughout the world, BAADER is an important player in the food processing industry.
They are committed to innovating food value chains and being ready for coming global trends like 3D food printers, insects as protein source, cell-cultured meat and digitalization within their portfolio.
At Sprout, we are pleased to contribute—bringing complex sustainability strategies down to earth allowing people to visualize and tangibly understand them through our plantable Sprout pencils and biodegradable Sprout Spoons.
