Private school El Pinar, Málaga, with 25 years of experience and European Week for Waste Reduction

Sprout pencils on cards and a children’s story about “The pencil that didn’t want to end up as trash"

How
The children planted the pencils at school as part of the project “Less Cables, More Roots”, designed for the 2025 European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR). The EWWR is Europe's largest awareness campaign promoting waste prevention in 30 countries through local actions by authorities, businesses, schools, and citizens during a week in November

The Story

The 2025 European Week for Waste Reduction focused on tackling electronic waste and was carried out with the participation of El Pinar School, which took part as the pilot center.

The initiative aimed to raise children’s awareness of the importance of reducing, reusing, and reconnecting with nature. SproutWorld contributed with a children’s story and plantable pencils.

The project, launched at El Pinar, was designed as a model that could be replicated in other schools across Spain and Europe. The aim was to introduce young children to environmental care, highlighting the contrast between technology and nature, promoting sustainable habits, and involving families and teachers.
