Cornflower

Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) is a charming annual wildflower known for its striking blue flowers and delicate, natural appearance. Easy to grow and quick to flower, it is a beautiful addition to flower beds, borders, pots, and wildflower gardens. Cornflowers are also attractive to bees and other pollinators.

How to use it

Sow the seeds directly in the soil in spring, in a sunny location with well-drained soil. Cornflowers are easy to grow and can thrive even in relatively poor soil. Keep the soil lightly moist while the seeds germinate and the young plants become established.

Cornflowers bloom during summer and produce their characteristic bright blue flowers on slender stems. The flowers are excellent for adding colour to the garden and can also be picked for bouquets or dried flower arrangements. The petals are edible and can be used as a colourful decoration for salads, cakes, and other dishes.
