At Sprout World, we love Christmas and we love to recycle. So much actually, that we’ve decided to give some old and used materials a second life as Christmas decorations.
Giving used materials a new life is what we normally do. Just think of our famous Sprout pencil – it revives as basil, cherry tomato or forget me not when it’s too short to write with and someone decides to plant it.
So, are you wondering how to make this Christmas a bit more ecofriendly? Start out with something simple like the decorations. Ditch plastic, save money and make it a family activity – a total win-win.
A Christmas star out of wallpaper
If you are on top of the new décor trends, you’ll probably have some wallpaper left from giving your living room a fresh brush up this year. Or maybe it’s a project for 2020? Make sure the wallpaper is eco-friendly, there are a lot of sustainable brands without plastic or chemicals.
Instead of tossing any leftover wallpaper, use it as gift wrapping or turn it into a Christmas star. We’ll show you how to do it here:
An Angel from sheet music
If you are a musical soul, you might have some old sheet music left that you don’t play or sing anymore. Why not turn it into an angel? Black notes on a white background are very decorative and gives your angel a musical touch.
See how easy it is here:
An Elf from felt and pinecone
You might have some decorative felt from last year that you haven’t used? And some pinecones from one of your strolls in the forest? Make it into an elf – an eco-elf is so much more charming than one made of plastic. And it’s a perfect activity for kids.
A heart from an old book
Have you ever heard the saying that Christmas is the feast of the hearts? We believe so, and that’s why Christmas hearts is a must in every home and on every Christmas tree. Tear out a couple of pages in an old book that you don’t want to keep and fold them into beautiful hearts.
