Basil

Here’s a little secret for you: basil is one of the most popular herbs in our SproutWorld pencils and you don’t need green fingers to grow it! Very easy to sow and grow, it does just as well in herb gardens as it does in windowsill pots. Just plant, water, and place in a sunny spot, and watch it shoot up!

This one’s easy too: when your basil plant has grown, just cut off a few leaves to add to salads, soups, or pasta dishes. You can also make it into pesto (just add pine nuts, parmesan, olive oil and garlic) or brew up a refreshing basil tea by steeping its leaves in hot water.

The best thing about basil: its distinctive aroma.
